Congrats, You’re Engaged. Now What? (Part 1 of 2)
Congratulations. You are officially engaged to be married. What happens now? In this quick post I wanted to give a few tips to newly engaged couples from years of being in the industry. Honestly, these tips can help with any event.
- Decide on your budget – Be realistic. We all dream of a horse-drawn carriage, hummer limo and 300 guests. Many times what we want and what we can manage are completely different. Be creative throughout this process, you will be surprised at the number of ways to cut costs. For example, have your Wedding on a non-peak evening, venue rates are generally less expensive.
- Hire a Professional Planner – Yes, I did say be creative about cutting costs, but this is not an area to skimp. Sometimes your best friend is not a good choice. Having your Dream Wedding is completely affected by those you have working with you. A professional planner helps plan and execute your big day by overseeing details that would escape most people’s attention. Do your research. Even if you are a DIY-Couple, many Planners have Day-Of and Month-Of Coordination Services.
- Be Flexible – Sometimes the date you want is not available at the venue you have chosen, or the flowers you want are not in season. Lilacs in October – premium rates (see budget above). Try a different venue, select different flowers, its okay, as long as your day is a reflection of you.
